The Student Center and Neighborhood Hall Design Project comprises two distinct buildings, each serving different functions. The primary structure is the student center, a six-story building, while the secondary building, the neighborhood hall, spans two floors. Despite the thoughtful design of these buildings, the project faces a significant challenge concerning accessibility, as the location makes it difficult for visitors to easily reach the facilities from public transport stops. Addressing this issue became a central focus of the design process.

To resolve the transportation challenge, a pedestrian bridge or overpass has been incorporated into the project. This bridge connects the tram station, situated directly in front of the buildings, to the student center. What makes this overpass unique is its form, inspired by a nearby water tower. Its circular shape provides both an aesthetic and functional solution, creating a fluid connection between the tram station and the student center’s second floor. This circular route not only evokes the iconic shape of the water tower but also enhances the flow of pedestrian traffic.

The overpass is designed to provide a direct route for pedestrians getting off the tram. Upon reaching the second floor of the student center via the bridge, visitors can seamlessly enter the building or proceed to the street level, allowing access to both the neighborhood hall and other nearby destinations. This thoughtful integration of transportation infrastructure ensures smooth movement for users, eliminating the access issues that were initially a challenge.

By integrating the pedestrian bridge and drawing inspiration from local landmarks, the design enhances both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the student center, turning a potential transportation obstacle into an opportunity for architectural innovation.
